Biography[edit]

I noticed in the biography section where you mentioned when Sheridan formed his first band but you left out the name of the band. I may be wrong. Jaberwocky6669 Jaberwocky6669 02:38, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the peedles information from? This is certainly not a German word now and the construction is not German either.

I guess they mean Pidels. Not widely used any longer. De mortuis... 05:13, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
in a Beatles biography, we learn that "pidels" is a slang word spoken mainly in the Hamburg region of Germany. Remember, Germany still has many regional slangs, for example, in the region of the Mercedes auto plants, they speak "Schwebisch", which is a regional language that is still widely spoken nowadays (my ex-brother-in law came from that region and speaks Schwebisch). 67.71.40.230 (talk) 18:51, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Beat Brothers?[edit]

I don't think that the Beat Brothers were the same people as the Beatles. Different voices, different playing style, different instruments. I'm trying to remember where I have definitive information on this, does anyone else know what I'm talking about? DaveHinz 19:58, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right that other musicians who recorded with Tony Sheridan shortly after The Beatles were also listed as The Beat Brothers. I believe that The Beat Brothers name, after being used for some Beatles recordings, was used as a generic name which might be applied to whoever happened to be backing Tony Sheridan - he was, after all, the star being promoted. These musicians included (although there may have been others) Johnny Watson (drums), Colin Milander (bass), Roy Young (organist), Rikky Barnes (sax).

To add to the confusion. there are many LP, cassette and CD releases which contain the Tony Sheridan/Beatles recordings along with Tony Sheridan/Beat Brothers recordings featuring the other musicians as there weren't enough Beatles recordings for a full album. Often, when a distinction is attempted, the album information is wrong as to which group played on which tracks although the aural difference is obvious (not least the different instruments). Although in some cases the confusion might be deliberate - in order to fool buyers into thinking that The Beatles appear on more tracks than they do - this isn't always the case and at least one CD credits the other Beat Brothers with two Beatles tracks. This suggests to me that the Polydor documentation may not be clear or accurate, therefore misleading album compilers even when they are not trying to be dishonest.

Not really quality writing[edit]

The following part of the article is not written in an encyclopedic tone and probably should be removed: "That statement that John Lennon doesn't play on the recordings with Sheridan is not proven. It is not possible that he did not play on the Beatles first record. The reason is that John Lennon was the leader of the group and had an angry mind. He was also envious and jealous. If he wasn't allowed to play on his own group's first record he would surely had left the recording session in anger." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimindc (talkcontribs) 17:48, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's not all that's wrong with this article. If I have time I'll try and trim it back down - or, you could do it yourself. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:02, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

unable to add review of Album "Vagabond" ("Unreliable source" category)[edit]

I cancelled this paragraph about a review I found on Rate My Music, as I found an equivalent review on Amazon, from a client who purchased the record !
