Tony Clifton is a real lounge singer
I think it's disgusting the way Kaufman and his family used Tony Clifton to make money. Tony Clifton was a lounge singer in Las Vegas when Kaufman was nothing. Tony Clifton should not be associated with Kaufman other than Clifton openned some shows for Kaufman. Jtpaladin 15:05, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

- Actually Jtpaladin is right. Tony Clifton was a Vegas lounge-singer who Andy saw and met and copied. The extent of his copying Clifton and not paying for the use of the material and personna or not known, but, as in the case of Elvis Presley stealing almost all of his material from African Americans and not paying for it, could be fairly extensive. I'm not sure if there has been any legal battles, but Kaufmann was admited to it, as Bob Zmuda tells us. Teetotaler
- First, no one cares what Jtpaladin or anyone else thinks; these pages are for improvong articles, they are not soapboxes. Second, Jtpaladin is not right that Clifton (the real one) opened for Kaufman. ahh, the difference with the kaufmann and (real) tony clifton thing was that kaufman's was a extremely loose based parody of a las vegas lounge singer named tony clifton. so therefore it was a 100% legal to do what he did. he didn't do everything exactly the same. if he did, the (real) tony clifton would have never made it to vegas. just look at kaufman's version of clifton, he got kicked out of everywhere. it's like in wrestling when bischoff tried suing ecw because of the bWo for gimmick infringement. he couldn't because it was only a loose parady of the nWo. so kaufmann did nothing wrong, and i'm sure he brought his ideas up to the guy that he would make his "own" tony clifton and have several people obnoxiously play it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.248.229.206 (talk) 14:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
