Atuatuca Tungrorum[edit]

The following partly changed text hereby is proposed:

"Before the Roman conquests, this area was inhabited by the Eburones, a Belgic tribe. During Julius Caesar’s campaigns in this area in the 1st century BC, Ambiorix, a Eburonian chief, incited his people to rise up against Caesar and proceeded to kill an entire Roman legion near this place, then called "Atuatuca". This victory soon afterwards was revenched by the Romans, as they decimated the entire Eburones tribe. As a result the Tungri, a tribe, that was more friendly to the Romans, more and more could take in their place." VKing (talk) 14:39, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
