Untitled[edit]

Okay, I've extended the article a bit with info on some of the Disney roles and some Disney Legend stuff. There were a few sentences pasted almost intact from the Disney Legends page, but they're rephrased now. Still needed: a proper citation for the claim that the Disney contract with not renewed because of Kirk's sexual orientation; the interview in External Links will probably cover it but it should be an inline cite. It would be nice to get something more specific than "businessman" for his adult career, and something more about his range as an actor insofar as he's been in drama, action-adventure, romantic teen comedy, etc. Incidentally, Disney got the name of his Old Yeller character wrong on his Disney Legends page, but I verified that it was Travis (per the DVD), not Arliss, who was played by Kevin Corcoran. Kirk wasn't fired because he was gay, it was because he was having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old and the boy's parents complained to Disney. Kirk has said this himself and that he bears no ill will toward Disney. (92.11.185.29 (talk) 12:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

What is your source for this? I've never heard this before. Cactusjump (talk) 21:18, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kirk admitted this himself in a 1993 interview. (92.2.9.102 (talk) 15:16, 12 November 2010 (UTC))[reply]

More possible sources[edit]

If the Salon source is less than ideal, one might be able to work from other sources related to the book discussed in that interview. I see from the "Search Inside" excerpt for Tinker Belles and Evil Queens that Kirk is indexed as appearing on pp. 82, 84, 99-101. The Kirkus Reviews listing for the book, quoted on Amazon, also mentions Tommy Kirk as being dismissed for being gay. I know we don't link to Amazon, but there may be a way to cite the book or the review or something of that sort. Even so, I'd be more comfortable with that part of the article if it reported the claim as coming from this particular book or author, rather than as a fact - unless of course there is a source that is better still, such as an interview with Kirk himself. Just some thoughts, to ignore or run with. -- Karen | Talk | contribs 04:15, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. This article quotes from an interview, but the original may be hard to obtain.[1] ·:·Will Beback ·:· 05:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. The one you found quotes from this. [2] Would this be a better source? And should we mention the nature of his business (carpet and upholstery cleaning)? -- Karen | Talk | contribs 06:38, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
