This is a great start for a cheese article. I came here b/c I have often seen the name and wanted to learn what it meant. However, I think it would be helpful to add a pronunciation guide from someone knowledgeable. tow-may?, tome?, tommy?, tom? --Shorn again (talk) 15:54, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@Shorn again It's pronounced 'Tom' (according to my French friend) 79.67.139.3 (talk) 22:46, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am here today at the saint-girons farmers market. I asked 3 small local producers what tomme meant and they each said it means ‘chunk of cheese’. None of their cheeses, which are marked tomme de chevre, are made from skimmed milk. I am no authority but seems like theres disagreement in the cheese world about the meaning of tomme. 31.4.180.122 (talk) 09:49, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
