Questions about his ancestory[edit]

There are several claims in the first paragraph which don't stand up to a preliminary check. As follows:

"The name of his mother is unknown, however his father Titus Vitrasius Pollio, served as a Legatus in Lugdunum and became consul in 137 in the reign of Hadrian (117-138)." -- Names for the suffects of this year are not known, & neither ordinary consul is T. Vitrasius Pollio.

"His paternal ancestry can be traceable to the reign of the Roman emperor Tiberius (14-37). His paternal grandfather Titus Vitrasius Pollio served as a Procurator of Egypt under the Roman Emperor Claudius (41-54) and his paternal great, grandfather of the same name served as Governor of Egypt in the reign of Tiberius." -- There is a Vitrasius Pollio who was prefect of Egypt in AD 31, but we don't know his praenomen; & another Vitrasius Pollio prefect from 38 to 41, but a Gaius Vitrasius Pollio. And these two Pollios may be the same person.

Further, Prefects of Egypt were from the Equestrian, not Senatorial, class. The first sentence of this paragraph claiming that he was of a Patrician family is thus unusual. Unless this Vitrasius Pollio was adopted into a Patrician family (e.g., the Pomponius Proculus), based on his polyonomous name.
