New Film: "The Girl"[edit]

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of this can tell if this article should be included: "Tippi Hedren interview: 'Hitchcock put me in a mental prison' A new BBC film tells the story of director Alfred Hitchcock's crazed obsession with one of his ice-cool blonde leading ladies, Tippi Hedren. But she wouldn’t be broken, she tells John Hiscock."71.230.201.203 (talk) 20:16, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(not found in dictionary [citation needed])[edit]

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but how can someone produce a citation for something that they can't find? There's a logical paradox there :) 83.105.50.123 (talk) 19:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tupsa[edit]

Tippi comes from the Swedish nickname "Tupsa" or "sweetheart".

There's something wrong here, "Tupsa" is not a Swedish nickname.

Lefthandedness[edit]

While I can see it remaining in the article, I don't think its one of the most important things that belongs in the lead. I suggest it move down into the article somewhere. Mention of Hitchcock blondeness makes sense in the lead. (John User:Jwy talk) 23:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hedren's Contract[edit]

From the "Career" section of this article: ["]He was a very controlling type of person, and I guess I'm not about to be controlled", said Hedren, who bought out her contract. A 2005 interview with Hedren in The Times of London relates that Hitchcock kept Hedren under contract; she did not "buy out" of her pact. From the linked article: "Finally, he sold her contract to Universal, which fired her after she refused a role in one of its TV shows. She was, naturally, delighted, because it freed her to accept other work." Please consider correcting this reference.--The News Hound 07:17, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Here's the direct link: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article377531.ece . It appears the Times article could provide better sourcing than most of the other references, especially as WP:BLP requires stringent sourcing per WP:RS. lion Neil[edit]

Article says lion Neil was a cub raised by her/her family. Have not looked into it much, but that seems to be wrong, no? (like, see this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2797870/tippi-hedren-reveals-regrets-letting-beast-share-family-home-letting-sleep-daughter-melanie-griffiths-bed.html)

I propose that the image taken in 2015 be used, because I believe that aside from being able to show Hedren as she is now, it is much clearer and of higher quality than the one in 1965. A couple IP addresses claim that the 2015 one isn't good, but I fail to see what's wrong with it. -NowIsntItTime(chats)(doings) 17:54, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, As I stated, Hedren is most remembered for her work in the two films she did with Hitchcock. Classic stars like Lauren Bacall, Grace Kelly or Ava Gardner all have pictures from the times they are most remembered for (Even Olivia de Havilland, who is still alive). Hedren is not really recognizable in the 2015 picture. And it’s rather an unflattering picture. Maybe we could use a picture that is already in the Hitchcock years section. 92.184.104.112 (talk) 20:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The film stars you have mentioned died decades ago, and Havilland's image is only used because there doesn't seem to be a current free image to use. Aside from Marnie and The Birds, Hedren was still in films such as Roar, although not as noteworthy as the two, and more movies continuing in the 90s.
I really favor the image over the very blurry one that is being used right now, though I might agree that another picture from her Marnie days would better suit the article if you can find one. NowIsntItTime(chats)(doings) 23:50, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(I am User talk:92.184.104.112) : Well, you can find a couple of recent images of Olivia de Havilland inside the article, the same for Lauren Bacall. I think the image box is really about how they are remembered. But maybe I'm wrong. Regarding Tippi Hedren, I did find a publicity still of Marnie that was already uploaded here. I created a cropped version of it to use on her page. What do you think ? HG 967 (talk) 10:20, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's much better. Last night I found Tippi Hedren in "The Harrad Experiment" (1973).png and I was going to suggest using that image, but it was from 1973. This picture is a good profile shot, so nice job. -NowIsntItTime(chats)(doings) 14:43, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OTT[edit]

She is recognised as one of the most famous ‘Hitchcock Blondes’...

Unsourced claim, and somewhat exaggerated, I suggest. She really cannot be classed alongside Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly or Kim Novak. Everybody, including her, was amazed at her selection for a star role. And that turned out to be for personal reasons. Valetude (talk) 09:24, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Commitment[edit]

She apparently had trouble choosing the right spouse as many times as she was divorced and remarried. 2605:A601:9179:9F00:111F:EBDA:E483:6CF6 (talk) 13:26, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
