Just a reminder that links to articles about time itself should retain precedence over other links on this disambig page. --Yamara 19:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Issues of lead & overall structure[edit]

Without suggesting the rest of the accompanying Dab page is fine, a few issues make a good starting place:

  • With few exceptions (Nigger and Fuck are probably the classic examples, tho there are other kinds, where "The beginning of wisdom is calling things by their right names" to an extent that terminological articles are necessary), articles are almost never about terms, but generally about the topics for which, in many instances, those terms do make good names or titles for said articles on the corresponding topics. The phrase "... is a term ..." is (outside the exceptional cases) language in need of replacement.
  • A Dab page with around a dozen sections & subsections, but no ToC, is ridiculous. Perhaps an editor found the long ToC annoying to scroll past; perhaps the sections were chosen so poorly (or are so unhelpful to some users) that those users found the ToC of no value to themselves. (And it may be the ToC organization can be improved; we can work on that.) The current ToC is long enuf that a right-hand ToC
    • can't be much worse than the default,
    • is far better than no ToC (which differs from the linear search method only in that an improbable section title can serve as a cue to shift from line-by-line searches to banging "page down" until another section heading shows up), and
    • does almost nothing to interfere with the (inefficient) kind of use (by those who like it for whatever reason) that NoToC forces on users.
  • Dab pages must solve the fundamental disambiguation problem, which is that while virtually no one can know what the optimum title is for every article they want, we must get virtually all users who have not committed a spelling error to the article they had in mind, and must give that task first priority. Misspellings are worthy of our assistance, but that assistance belongs where it least interferes with the critical Dab'n function: at the end, in a classic, terminal, Dab-page see-also section.
  • The wording "... the experience of duration and a fundamental quantity of measuring systems" isn't necessarily great or terrible, but the accompanying Dab page should in any case probably take a strong cue from the lead of the primary-topic article, which deserves discussion on that article's talk page.

I made a slight change, as the artcle Time in physics is not exclusively about the relativistic aspects of time. See also my undo of your edit to article Time. - DVdm (talk) 19:48, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I also restored the original opening line, as time is not a "domain of knowledge", and there is no need to restrict or unrestrict, or even mention relativity. - DVdm (talk) 07:40, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
