Untitled[edit]

Alot of the paragraphs or statements within this page seem to be opinionated; and the writing style appears to be in New Zealand english instead of a more American English style:

"Locally produced shows such as Outrageous Fortune, Bro'Town, and Sing Like A Superstar **fill the gaps**."

"The election of the the Labour Government in 1999 would refocus TVNZ as a semi-non-commercial broadcaster and would mean that its focus on driving ratings and dominating the free to air television market would stumble. **TV3 took advantage of this steadily working on ensuring a friendly public image**"''

Possibly take a more liberal view, as this is obviouslly fairly biased. Kinda funny how New Zealanders are writing biased articles about a network that isn't even owned by New Zealanders, but is owned by Canadians of all people.--Matt von Furrie 11:47, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth English is the appropriate language for an article on a company operating in New Zealand. If terms used are not understood outside of New Zealand or the commonwealth, feel free to rewrite those phrases. I've modified the first term you identify, although I think you are objecting to the implied lack of value of local programs rather than the English (and I don't think that implication is appropriate). I'm not sure what the intent of the author was re "friendly public image", so I've left that for now. I think that the reference to "friendly public image" has been mis-interpretted in the comment above. TV3 has been working to position itself as a "New Zealand company" even though its owned by Canadians. This work has been done by TV3 intentionally to cover itself in the flag so to speak .. they identified New Zelanders options and general preference for local companies and culture. They took notice of the Labour Government's local content ambitions and that is why, and for no other reason (except to starve off quotas) we have Kiwi FM. - if TV3 didn't manage this 'friendly image' then they wouldn't have the viewership they have today Abeorch 12:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of overseas programmes[edit]

I don't see the value of having this list. Local programmes, maybe, but the overseas list just generates churn for the article. Anyone opposed to the idea of removing it?-gadfium 02:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It should be ina sentence format with a few examples. The current format is not good, but we should keep some mention of non New Zealand shows, that TV3 broadcast. ant_ie 06:57, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the list. The suggestion that we include a few examples is problematic, as no one is likely to agree on which examples to list, and any list tends to encourage others to add to it.-gadfium 08:31, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Widescreen[edit]

Although TV3 & C4 will be in widescreen, it will be true 16:9 on SKY and possibly Freeview as well althugh nothing has been said in this regard.

On UHF, TV3 will be in a format known as 14:9 which benefits both 16:9 and 4:3 viewers so it won't be true 16:9 as we know it. DaMo 00:55, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Tv3logo.jpg[edit]

Image:Tv3logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page.
