change to "Duke's County"[edit]

Genealogical References[edit]

Am I the only one who thinks that there are too many genealogical references within the text? You can randomly pick nearly any significant or famous historic figure from a few centuries ago and trace their descendants down to famous people today or in other centuries. One could fill an encyclopedia with all the people descended from Governor Thomas Dudley for example and another one with his ancestors. Singling out Taylor Swift as follows:

"Martha is the world-famous singer and song-writer Taylor Swift's 7th Great-Grandmother."

Is silly and pointless. Why not list all the other dozens or hundreds of famous people who are also descended from Thomas Mayhew? I am descended from him though not famous and of course I should not be mentioned but I have many cousins who are every bit as famous as Taylor Swift who are not mentioned. I'm not knocking Taylor Swift, she's my fifth cousin once removed. I'm just saying that this article reads as though it was written by a Taylor Swift fan. I'm all for genealogical research. In fact I've been doing it for over 40 years. I just think that these references have no place in an encyclopedia. The fact that most of the biographies on this website from the period don't have such references I think proves my point. I'm going to wait to make any changes for a while because I'd like the opinion of others before proceeding.

Thomas Mayhew are my 13 great grandfather![edit]
