We seem to have multiple 1st Earl's of Kent. Edmund of Woodstock and Thomas Holland. Surely they can't both be 1st? Duncan (talk) 17:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are both firsts, indeed there have been about eight 1st Earls of Kent. Every time the Earldom was recreated the first Earl to receive that title became the First Earl. Its a common feature of the British peerage. Benea (talk) 22:19, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
