Thomas Hoby[edit]

Under the heading "Early Life," Thomas Hoby is described (in the article bearing his name) as "a cousin of Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury." I believe that is incorrect. Hoby married Elizabeth Cooke. Her sister was Mildred Cooke, who was married to William Cecil (later ennobled as Lord Burghley). Mildred and William Cecil were the parents of Robert Cecil. Thus, Thomas Hoby was Robert's uncle (not his cousin) by virtue of his marriage to Elizabeth, Robert's aunt (= his mother's sister). 2601:285:8380:39A0:4D8D:D35A:F9D2:9B45 (talk) 06:16, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
