Comment[edit]

I'm assessing this start class. Referencing, style, and grammar are great. But in my opinion this article is a little bit thin for B-class (content). However, it would be fairly easy to add what higher unit (brigade, division, corps) that the 11th Mass served in at the various battles, perhaps with the help of Battles & Leaders. Also, you might add casualties suffered at battles, where known. You might consider adding some detail about what the 11th did at Second Bull Run (see John J. Hennessy's book: there are several references to the 11th) or Chancellorsville or Wilderness. There are a number of good books out there that would be helpful. It's hard to believe the 11th missed ALL the Peninsular battles, surely they were present at one or more of the battles. ("The 11th was in reserve at the Battle of X.") Boatner (p 251) has a very brief entry for Dunham that lists only the dates of his promotions. (Promoted Col. on 11 July 65) Not having the following would not disqualify the article but, was he married, did he have children, who were his parents, did he live in Beverly all his life? If you don't have a picture of Dunham, how about a picture having to do with the 11th Mass or one of its battles or even General Smyth? The above are all, I hope, good tips to beef up your article and boost it to B-class. Djmaschek (talk) 06:15, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much. These are all good points. I will try to work some of this into the article. Historical Perspective (talk) 11:39, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've followed up on your suggestions, adding info on the 11th's involvement in the Peninsular Campaign and the Second Battle of Bull Run. I've also added brief info on his parents and marriage. Also an image of Second Bull Run. Hoping this might sufficiently fill out the article. Thanks. Historical Perspective (talk) 20:53, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
B-class. You did all that was asked. The expansion of sources looks good. BTW: Up to 4 paragraphs are recommended for the introduction. For a fairly obscure officer like Dunham, one paragraph is OK. Djmaschek (talk) 23:58, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
