I've proposed merging in the predecessor of CATS Canterbury partly because it's just duplicating the history here and partly because I've a nagging suspicion about some of the contributors to these articles - the Stafford House one was more about how wonderful CATS is than about Stafford House itself. 86.27.171.145 (talk) 10:15, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History - Suggested Revisions[edit]

Stafford House was originally known as Stafford House Tutorial College. Entry was at age 16, because it was run as a college and not as a public school. There was no assembly, or chapel, or house system or prefects or playing fields or school uniform. Rather it was an alternative to the traditional private school for those who wished to study in a college atmosphere without the restrictions of a traditional school. A student was free to make up an individual timetable rather than have one imposed by a traditional school.
