Progressive Metal?[edit]

I'm not sure I understand why this is called a progressive metal song. Could someone please explain this classification? Cronos12390 09:24, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What would you call it?
--Rock Soldier 01:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure, but I suppose if it were my call, I would just call it a heavy metal song. It isn't a power ballad, and it isn't completely like Metallica's other ballads, so I don't really know. But I wasn't debating classification, I was asking why this was considered a progressive metal song. I can only really think of a few elements (acoustic parts interspersed with distorted parts several times, alternating harsh/clean vox, etc) that might qualify it as a prog song, but this was present in all of Metallica's ballads. I actually just checked, and apparently Sanitarium is now a progressive metal song. I can't really say I completely disagree with this definition, but it seems odd to name it like that. This recorded date is wrong impossible[edit]

There's no way it was released 4 years before it was recorded. Either it's completely irrelvant, or it references a different version. According to their site [1] it was released in 1991. I don't know the recording date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viewfromthebridge (talkcontribs) 00:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For A Few Dollars More[edit]

Would somebody care to explain exactly where the sound is in the movie "For A Few Dollars More" that is similar to the opening to this song? "The showdown" is very vague, and I'm very interested in hearing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.212.39.92 (talk) 02:06, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article first says that is it unknown which movie the horns came from, but it might be from "A Few Dollars More." Then it says that the horns in both "Unforgiven" and "Unforgiven II" definitely came from "For a Few Dollars More." So which is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.229.114 (talk) 04:13, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hetfield's "new-found singing voice"[edit]

The article mentions something about Hetfield's "new-found" singing voice... What does that mean? That he didn't previously know he could sing? That he only "found" his voice while recording this song? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.46.198.4 (talk) 21:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

batman music video[edit]

I think so it is worth mentoining that there is a rather cool music video based on the Batman: The Animated Series. Actually you can find two versions of this over google. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.98.145.169 (talk) 21:35, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move to "The unforgiven (single)"[edit]

Due of the article descript the single instead of the song itself, it would be better to move this article to "The Unforgiven (single)" or something like that. --80.238.179.136 (talk) 14:46, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Create a music video section please[edit]

Thanks for you work on the article, I'm interested in a music video section please. If you have information, please add it, thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragonblades (talkcontribs) 09:11, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New merge proposal[edit]

The articles talk about a same song "revisited". In case of songs of Progressive Rock groups, they used to songs in several "parts", though these its in a differen album, ex. Larks' Tongues in Aspic (song) from King Crimson. That the case of "The Unforgiven"? OscarFercho, 17 July 2009 However, "The Unforgiven" has two more sequels, "The Unforgiven II" and "The Unforgiven III". Different songs, from different albums, therefore; it is better to keep them the way they are.Other wise, if the whole would be "The Unforgiven", then the three songs should be on the same page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.131.124.174 (talk) 11:00, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting idea since they are both sort of the same song in different parts. But because they were technically released as different singles from different albums several years apart, I'd have to oppose this proposal. A good thought, though.--Sky Attacker Here comes the bird! 06:54, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There should at least be an article for the Unforgiven III, as it now redirects to the Death Magnetic album... -- Hawky

Ready![edit]

Well, I have merged and redirected The Unforgiven II and III, you say if I did the right thing, I think so. --Eduardofoxx13 (talk) 22:29, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Music Video[edit]

Whoever added the section on The Unforgiven II's music video needs to go back and re-watch it. The video clearly shows "the now human wall" opening the boys' hand and REMOVING the key from his hand. Not, as the article currently states: "the now human wall places a key in the boys open hand, he is then able to get free, signifying he has been forgiven". The fact that this error has remained in place for so long, causes me to question the reliability of the eyesight of this page's current editors. --LyosNorezel 02:18, 15 May, 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.81.135.30 (talk) 02:16, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Heavy chord progression"[edit]

The line "Though one of the slower tracks on the album, its chord progression is distinctly one of the heavier." is dumb and displays a fundamental lack of knowledge of music theory.

Chord progressions can not be heavy. They can be minor, major, and all sorts of adjectives, but not "heavy".

You can play this progression gently plucking at a harp or tinkling at a piano (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LreG-Xr_rXg), the same way you can turn guitar distortion way up and make Mary Had a Little Lamb sound heavy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.168.110.13 (talk) 02:23, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Unforgiven II[edit]
