merge with 'Celsus'[edit]

This should probably be merged with the article 'Celsus', https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celsus . It's not as though we know a lot about the author as opposed to his work -- actually we don't even know much about his work. There is a lot of duplication, e.g., each article had a different description of the dating (which I've now harmonized). Probably the article should be titled Celsus, and 'The True Word' should be a redirect or disambiguation page. --2603:8000:8900:6E00:F894:D79F:AE05:DC1E (talk) 15:05, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

mischaracterization of an argument by Hoffman[edit]

The article had this: "Roman philosophers also attacked Christian moral and ethical principles because "the Christianity of the first century had yet to develop an assailable system of belief or a fixed canon of writings from which such beliefs could be educed"." The quote was from Hoffman, p. 24. But this is actually the opposite of what Hoffman is saying. Hoffman is saying that Romans *couldn't* focus their critique on such principles, early on, because they weren't yet well defined. I deleted the quote.--2603:8000:8900:6E00:BCBE:E19F:B0D0:7D0E (talk) 17:41, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
