Censorship and euphemism[edit]

An editor is trying to remove the term "transsexualism" from the article. WP:VULGAR was cited as a reason. To be perfectly clear about it, WP:VULGAR concerns language that is "vulgar, obscene, or profane". The term "transsexualism" is not "vulgar, obscene, or profane." Edits based on misrepresentation or misapplication of Wikipedia's guidelines are unacceptable. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:51, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW I agree that "transsexual" is not vulgar. Some instances/uses may be (out)dated, but in an article about an older work that uses the term in its title, may be OK. I may try to look through the article later and see if there are any places where rewriting seems appropriate. -sche (talk) 18:01, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response - The Empire Strikes Back[edit]

I feel that this article should mention the response to this book by Sandy Stone in her 1987 book The Empire Strikes Back: A Posttranssexual Manifesto and a foundational text of transgender studies. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 21:58, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, that's a startling omission. Yes, there should be at least a sentence in the "Reception" section, which already mentioned Raymond's attacks of Stone; how is this? -sche (talk) 19:59, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
