Racism Controversy[edit]

There was a racist outburst from the crowd on 8/13, with people cheering the census reports of a decline of white population. This left Mr. Fallon bewildered, but no action was taken to remove the offenders. He continued to deliver the joke, which suggested that white people like unfashionable, boring music. How should this be addressed in the article?

Starring or with[edit]

So far it is being called the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon based on news articles. Name of article should be changed.

Sketches/games[edit]

I do not believe it would be accurate to say that games follow the monologue when no games have been done on the show so far. this i believe is original research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.223.147.118 (talk) 05:27, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

On February 19th a game of charades was played on the show, so as the original poster, I rescind my earlier comment — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.223.147.118 (talk) 04:49, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Host age[edit]

With Seth Meyers hosting the Late Night franchise and Jimmy Fallon hosting The Tonight Show franchise, this marks the first time in history that the host of Late Night is actually older than the Tonight Show host; with Meyers (40) being older than Fallon (39) by nine months.

Didn't Letterman host Late Night a few months still after Jay Leno had taken over the Tonight Show? If so, the above is not accurate (since Letterman is older than Leno).

Spin-off?[edit]

The Spike series Lip Sync Battle is based upon the recurring segment on Fallon's Tonight Show. That should make it Tonight's very first spin-off, shouldn't it? (Notwithstanding syndicated compilations of Carson's skits.) 68.146.52.234 (talk) 21:40, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This topic was never answered, but I think it’s relevant again in the face of The Kids Tonight Show (a spinoff of the show as a whole) and That's My Jam (also based on a recurring segment of the show) CreecregofLife (talk) 04:06, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Format addition[edit]

Based on Zoglin, Richard (May 14, 2015). "David Letterman Knew How to Talk". The New York Times. Retrieved 2015-05-16. {{cite web}}: Cite has empty unknown parameter: |1= (help), which says:

The late-night world that Mr. Letterman leaves behind is almost all performance. Jimmy Fallon has turned the “Tonight Show” into a festival of YouTube-ready comedy bits — lip-syncing contests, slow-jams of the news, musical impressions, games of Pictionary and egg Russian roulette. His interviews, meanwhile, have resurrected the kind of Merv Griffin-style celebrity gush that Mr. Letterman thought he had stamped out years ago. Mr. Fallon is setting the pace for the new, performance-dominated late-night scene.

I added the following to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon#Format:

Following the monologue, the main segments are a mix of interviews and performances—examples of the latter include musical impressions, lip-syncing contests, games of Pictionary and egg Russian roulette. His celebrity interviews are throwbacks to "Merv Griffin-style celebrity gush."
