Name[edit]

I have restored the name to "The Society". I cannot find any evidence on its website that its current official name includes "under the patronage ...". This seems like nothing more than a kind of "tagline". Unless there is some reliable evidence to the contrary then its name must remain as "The Society". The society's "branding" webpage ~ at http://www.sswsh.com/branding.php ~ refers to its logo and to the logo's "strapline". This strongly suggests that "under the patronage of ..." is only a strapline and not part of the full name. Anglicanus (talk) 15:33, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a confusing title, can it be changed to something that could give a clue to what the society does? JASpencer (talk) 10:13, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that its confusing, or at least vague, but I'm not sure how the article name could be changed in accord with article naming principles. Any suggestions? Anglicanus (talk) 16:02, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The Society (Church of England) is the most obvious disambiguation. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:57, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Gaia Octavia Agrippa. I would support this change. Do you want to make it now or seek further possible discussion? Does, however, the society have a presence in other Anglican churches that you know of? Anglicanus (talk) 03:44, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Anglicanus, as far I am aware The Society was created for and within the Church of England. It's About page states "The Society is committed to the Church of England. We intend to play our full part in the life of the Church of England at all levels". I seems, therefore, unlike forward in Faith which pops up in a number Anglican churches, The Society is specifically for the C of E. If you accept this reasoning, its best to move the mage now.
