The plot summary requires major expansion and revision. The flashback portion of the novel constitutes the primary focus of the book and, yet, has been glossed over far too casually.

The well-written attempted murder scene aboard The Calpurnia, alone, is worthy of a paragraph or two!

This is "early" Ludlum at his best, perfecting a style that will be further honed and 'filled-out' in future novels.

Curiously, undue emphasis is placed on the 'non-appearance' of the film version... While these details are important and should be included, the novel itself deserves far more attention.
