Untitled[edit]

The Rutherford Institute has roots in areas other than Christianity. I am surprised that there is not more information here other than a Christianity Portal notice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.18.255.105 (talk) 23:24, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why does the link to the founder circular link to this page? Let me see if I can fix that, if not, little help? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 17:07, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

This page is not neutral or unbiased. Other pages for Christian public interest law firms are more balanced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.173.74.218 (talk) 21:43, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? I don't see any obvious problems with the article.... is there more information you'd like to see added? If so, what? Sailsbystars (talk) 21:47, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The first three sentences of the article belie the nature of the organization. It is a public-interest law firm for religious rights and conservative ideas. The phrase "those who have had their rights threatened or violated" is not objective - their clients feel as though they have had their rights threatened. A cue can be taken from other public interest law firms's pages. For example, the Thomas More Law Center is characterized rightfully as "a conservative Christian, nonprofit law center." The ACLJ "is a public interest law firm ...[that] generally pursues Constitutional issues and conservative Christian ideals in courts of law." These descriptions are more specific and offer a more descriptive and nonpartisan view of the firms' activities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.173.88.64 (talk) 21:01, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Still seems to be a problem as of 2021. —PaleoNeonate – 02:21, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like that's addressed in the intro: "While once primarily concerned with the defense of religious liberties,[3] the organization later expanded its mission to encompass other constitutional issues such as search and seizure, free speech, and zero tolerance policy.[4]"2600:6C44:427F:2101:7131:CB57:33F8:C435 (talk) 06:37, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In agreement with the criticism and proposal by the IPs from 134.173, I have modified the lede to read thus <blockquote>The Rutherford Institute is a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of civil liberties, human rights, and religious liberties. Based on conservative Christian values, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the non-profit organization's motto is "its our job to make the government play by the rules of the Constitution."</blockquote> Jaredscribe (talk) 00:09, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:WTRMT 5, which is the best one, I will remove the flag for non-neutrality. Other editors may feel free to continue to improve this article and its lede. This has gone unfixed since 2013. WP:FIXTHEPROBLEM and WP:Bold-refine. Jaredscribe (talk) 00:17, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
