Merge[edit]

I've suggested a merge into A Storm of Swords. The Red Wedding is a pivotal event, sure, but there's nothing about it that can't be said at that page, or possibly at Wars in A Song of Ice and Fire. Brendan Moody 23:26, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seems a bit redundant. I'd suggest merging it with The War of the Five Kings, if it is decided that that topic needs its own article, or possibly on the Wars page. I think the existing summary on the ASoS page is okay (as the person who wrote it, ;) ), although perhaps highlighting this pivotal plot moment a bit more could be done.--Werthead 23:36, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree it should be more central in ASOS and more noted in the Wars section. However its not large enogh for a page of its own. On a side note I'm working on a better rendition of The War of Five that will feature the RW in part that's not quite ready yet.--Cybroleach 00:17, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge into both pages, as Werthead and Cybroleach said. Paul Willocx 07:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with the above: Merge. -Captain Crawdad 07:43, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge is in fact unnecessary as Wars in A Song of Ice and Fire already has everything that is required, although that paragraph (and several others) requires a lot of attention regarding typos and readability. Seems to me this page can be deleted without any loss of information. Paul Willocx 17:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

True, I agree with Paul Willocx. I change my "vote" to delete. -Captain Crawdad 20:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Even if there's nothing to merge, it's simpler to redirect than to delete, and having redirects from the names of battles and other events is probably a good idea anyway. Brendan Moody 23:32, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. Deletion is a complicated process that requires external input and uses editorial resources. Redirects are cheap. Arbor 19:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, exclusionism wins over. The Red Wedding as a media event is a cultural and entertainment milestone, covered by countless publications and indelibly ingrained within viewers and fans of a series. The sources that covered this were legion, credible, and mainstream, but it's been nixed from wikipedia because the true phenomenon was the reaction from internet primarily through streaming video and wiki shills are terrified of memes.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.185.239.6 (talk)

The appropriate place to cover this "media event" in regards to the TV series is "The Rains of Castamere", which discusses its impact. Feel free to contribute further there.— TAnthonyTalk 14:50, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
