There was a short lived series in the UK during the 1980s called The Practice. It was produced by Granada Television, and was about a doctor's surgery (a sort of early Doctors I suppose). It started as a twice weekly series in 1984 or 1985 and I think Granada had ambitions of it becoming their second weekly soap after Coronation Street. In the end though, it only lasted something like three months before the series ended, and although there was a second season a year or so later, this was also fairly short, and the programme was ultimately cancelled.
