Recent Developments[edit]

Removed quote from Washington City Paper editorial about how a Gray vote "stops The Plan dead." The very next line of the editorial contradicts this, saying that:

"Both versions are phony. The demographic changes polarizing the electorate mostly reflect things no mayor controls: Interest rates, changing tastes, suburban commutes. To historians, the story of early 21st century D.C. will be that, after decades of shrinking, the city began to grow again—in the process acquiring a richer, whiter population than it had between World War II and the 1990s. Same goes for many other big cities."

Phrasing[edit]

"The District, once 'Chocolate City', is becoming, as the saying goes, 'Vanilla Village'." - Do we have to use this line? Its a stupid, racist way to phrase the demographic issue. I realize we are quoting; if we feel it neccessary to include a direct quote instead of paraphrasing perhaps we could include better context. For example, "Source X says that: "'Chocolate City', is becoming, as the saying goes, 'Vanilla Village'". While still awful, this would at least make it clear that its not Wikipedia coming up with such language. Jay Dubya (talk) 19:57, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
