Mindless fun?[edit]

I don't agree with mindless fun. As in most good movies, comedy and tragedy is mixed. The tragedy is the lonliness of the indian at the hollywood party who can only smile to communicate. 87.123.73.94 12:06, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that unsourced "mindless" assessment. Any assessments need to be sourced. Jokestress (talk) 01:38, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambig[edit]

This article needs to become a disambig. 'The Party' much more often refers to the various politicial parties, especially the single party such as the Communist party.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 02:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense. I do it. Gzuckier 14:12, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Electric paper roll[edit]

Is it really true that the toilet paper roll is electric? I assumed that it was just the weight of the released toilet paper (and very low friction :) that caused the whole roll to unroll. BjarkeDahlEbert 00:53, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that, as there is no indication that it was electric and no source to back that up. Jokestress (talk) 01:39, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The end scene[edit]

Was filmed at the same location as the penultimate episode of The Fugitive TV series. The Pointsetta Spa Apartment building in West Hollywood. - Sparky 07:17, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

??[edit]

"The Morgan three-wheeler which Hrundi V. Bakshi is driving is reminiscent of Monsieur Hulot's cyclecar in Monsieur Hulot's Holiday". I don´t believe that this is really true, because the two cars are very different in both films. E.g. the three-wheeler has three wheels and has no big trunk. Tati´s car has four completely different wheels and a really big trunk....(??). It would be really much work to turn Tati´s car into the three-wheeler.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.189.127.99 (talk) 11:56, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Party moviep.jpg[edit]

Image:Party moviep.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 18:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Party (Robert Altman, 1966)[edit]

This movie's premise sounds suspiciously close to that of the Robert Altman ColorSonics short of the same name - 2 years prior. If this movie is a derivative, attribution needs to be given. Check out the R.A. version: ( http://moviestildawn.blogspot.com/2007/09/party-at-bob-altmans-house-in-1966.html ) 76.126.215.222 (talk) 06:24, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The video linked above has been removed. I found two references to Altman's 4-minute short, [1] [2], but I don't see any published sources that connect the two. While I agree the premise is similar, it would be original research to draw the parallel without a citation. Jokestress (talk) 01:41, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Offensive[edit]

How come it isn't mentioned that this movie is INCREDIBLY offensive? I mean, the man was in Brown-Face for god's sake! If someone did that in Black-Face, playing an African-American, people would be hysterical. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tdayal (talkcontribs) 16:02, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an unsympathetic portrait though. If Seller's character had been an obvious racist caricature, THAT would have been offensive. As it is, he is one of the few thoroughly likeable main characters in the movie. The Party gets a pass IMO. Jonas Liljeström (talk) 12:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a sourced comment in the lede acknowledging the brownface issues. Jokestress (talk) 01:36, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If the "brown face" is offensive or not is a matter of personal taste. It does not belong here. I propose to delete the Austerlitz reference to it. Actually, the entire quote of his statement is useless, as what he states is merely obscurantist lingo.Denverovsk (talk) 01:01, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Herbert Ellis[edit]

Herbert Ellis' name links to an English WW1 fighter pilot born in 1893. Doesn't sound quite right to me. How do you change this? Jonas Liljeström (talk) 12:57, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have made this correction. For instructions, see Wikipedia:Link. Jokestress (talk) 01:43, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Production[edit]

This is listed as the only Non-Pink Panther collaboration between Edwards and Sellers but what about the 1964 film Shot in the Dark? 66.246.173.34 (talk)—Preceding undated comment added by 66.246.173.34 (talk) 00:47, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
