Stop taking out the director information[edit]

I keep getting reverted everytime I add information on the film director. We are providing information about the film on this page and who the director was is part of the article.--CltFn 01:15, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for discussing first. your edits are reverted because you keep removing the information that this is the english cast. the arabic version had a completely different arabic-speaking cast. additionally you list the director under the "cast" section. "cast" does not include "director". in any case, the director's name is already listed in the intro. finally, the article is about the film, not the director. for info about Moustapha Akkad, go to his page. accordingly, the edits are rolled back. a further revert from you will be in breach of 3-revert rule, so please get agreement on this talk page first before proceeding! thanks. If you look at the changes I made , it says cast and crew. Yes this article is about the film , and that includes information on the director . If you go to IMDB you will see that the director is always included in pages on films. Funnily enough, nobody has pointed out that The Nation of Islam (followers of the The Nation of Islam are Black Muslims) is an American organization that has about as much hand in Middle-Eastern affairs as the IRA does in China. The Nation of Islam, despite its name, is NOT a division of Islam - it is a black seperatist movement, noted for its prominence in the 1960's and 70's. And if you're going to try and refute me on this, you better be familiar with the works of Malcolm X or you're wasting my time. Citing Akkad's death in a movie's article because of the unbelievably rare possibility that a group of African-American seperatists flew out to Syria to target Akkad 30 years after his movie's release is about as sensical as including supports to the conspiracy theory that aliens from outer space built the Egyptian pyramids in the article about ancient Egyptians. Mustafa Akkad[edit]

I believe the part about Akkad dying is totally irrelevant to the film page and is already discussed on both his biography and the 2005 Amman bombings. Unless Al-Qaeda has claimed it killed him for making the film (Which it has not) then it's about as relevant as the name of his daughter, his favorite color, or his blood type. NPOV → "prophet"[edit]

I apologize, this may seem trivial. Nontheless, Wikipedia strives to be neutral. Therefore, it is more suitable to refer to Muhammad as "prophet", instead "Prophet". PJ 20:50, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I would agree... if they film calls him "The Prophet" then he is "The Prophet" as a character... when we refer to the historical basis for this film he hs Muhammad... or "prophet of Islam". Right? Your right you are being extremely trivial or have some POV issues yourself, please do not taint Wikipedia with them.

I now soppose you will go to all Wikipedia articles regarding Prophets of Religion to impose your version of "neutrality".

Small addition[edit]

Im thinking of editing the last line in the first paragraph to something similiar to this : Instead actors were left to talk to the camera,quote Mohammed, or say what Mohammed was believed to have said.

In some scenes they would have a messenger say what Mohammed said, and in other cases they would say "Mohammed says..."

Standardization of Muhammad's name..[edit]

Realizing that it seems vitally important to some people, I notice that the name Muhammad is spelled differently in the articla and on the title of the movie. Is this deliberately keeping the title accurate while using the latest trend in phonetic translation in the body, or should the two spellings be made to match?
