Note[edit]

I remember hearing this play on BBC Radio (probably on the Third Programme) in the 1950s. Schollard (talk) 01:22, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't believe that the 2 copies I own and the one a friend gave his father a year or so ago are only the 3rd-5th known copies in the world. I'm sort of dubious that this part of it is actually noteworthy, unless I really DO have some REALLY RARE vinyl.

It's also available from Smithsonian Folkways and Amazon MP3 store, but I'm not going to try to figure out how best to phrase that right now. http://www.folkways.si.edu/albumdetails.aspx?itemid=1021 Jbsegal (talk) 00:37, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My recording[edit]

My parents, lifelong leftists, obtained a copy of the Discuriosities recording when it first appeared in 1954. I was 12 years old and played it, almost literally, to death. It now has several skips and playthroughs to adjacent grooves.

Fast forward to the mid-60s when Publishers Central Bureau advertised copies for $1.00 each. I bought 10 copies, thinking that my parents and their like-thinking friends might like newer copies. The time had passed; I think I gave away two of them. But they played better than my original worn-out copy.

I was really glad to discover the archived version at www.albany.edu. It has much better quality and (of course) is easier to listen to. Lbyler (talk) 22:15, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Full Cast with Roles Played?[edit]

Does anyone know of a full cast list for The Investigator that lists which actors played which parts? The Stage 54, Item 35 broadcast lists 15 players in addition to John Drainie, but does not indicate which parts they played. Since there are many more than 15 characters, it's obvious that most actors played multiple roles. The one exception may be Linda Ballantine, since the only female role is the airplane stewardess.
