McQueen's under-rated last picture[edit]

Sadly, McQueen died of mesothelioma later the same year this picture was filmed. Kathryn Harrold, who had a run of everything coming down the pike for a few years, was a fine actress and extremely beautiful, and had the largest role apart from McQueen in this picture. I tend to remember her most for her work on The Rockford Files in a two-part episode titled "Black Mirror" but she was also Albert Brooks' leading lady in an extremely intelligent theatrical film titled Modern Romance the year after The Hunter as well, among others. As for McQueen, of course he was a phenomenon and the highest paid actor in the world for several years. This movie is unusual in that McQueen plays a more ordinary guy as opposed to a practically a super hero, with believable fight scenes and stunts really taxing him, which could have something to do with the cancer that soon killed him. I think it's easily one of his best performances, which is saying a lot. The stills from the movie running under the credits at the end sort of retroactively made the film seem like an episode from a television series than a movie, at least while you watch the credits, but the film itself is quite under-rated. The veteran supporting cast members are excellent. The biggest question, though, is how did the producers find a baby that looked so much like Steve McQueen?
