The Giant CockroachThe Roach – The English title (the first English translation) - Altenmann >talk 23:25, 4 March 2024 (UTC) - Altenmann >talk 23:25, 4 March 2024 (UTC) Withdrawn per points made by jnestorius . - Altenmann >talk 01:06, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose why pick Morton's translation rather than Botting's? In a 1967 anthology, Morton retitles her translation "The Cockroach". "The Roach" is more ambiguous than any of the many plausible alternative Wikipedia titles. (Sidenote: The Roach is currently a redirect to The Chronic; I think the proposal should explicitly state whether any clobbering the redirect is intended — I have just added The Roach (The Chronic Outro) as a replacement in any case. I think The Roach should {{R from plural}}{{R from ambiguous term}} to Roach and will be bold and do so if this move request does not pass.) A brief Google suggests neither Morton's translation nor Botting's is very well known, and modern English-language mentions of the poem (e.g. academics discussing Chukovsky, news reports on Belarus) simply hand-roll their own translations of the title. "The Monster Cockroach" ; "Giant Cockroach" ; "The cockroach-monster" ; "The Cockroach" ; "The Big Bad Cockroach" ; "The Giant Cockroach" ; "Cock-the-Roach" ; "The Giant Cockroach" and "The Cockroach" in same article. jnestorius(talk) 00:59, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
