Comment[edit]

The Fred Waring Show 1948-1954. "Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians", as I remember, were a choir of about 100 singers who sang classical and semi-classical music. In full, elegant evening dress, the sound was full and strong, and many families, including mine, sat in the living room to hear them every week. They set a standard for elegance and precise, beautiful sound in their show. Towards the end, there were rumors of some disruption in the ranks, and unfair treatment charges. Remember this was before Equal Opportunity or protections for women at the workplace. But it was beautiful while it lasted.
