Expansion[edit]

On Talk:Joanna Russ there is this summary: "The Female Man follows one woman, 'J,' through different universes. In one universe, she is a timid ultrafeminine library assistant from a world which never left the Great Depression; in another she is a 70s feminist writer beginning to challenge the authorities in her life; the third J lives in a woman-only communal society which is both more liberating and more oppressive than it first appears; and the fourth is a ravenously violent woman in whose universe men and women are literally at war. As the Js meet and their stories merge together, then flow apart, Russ leads the reader in an exploration of cultural influence on how humans become gendered." - some of that could come in here. -- Beardo 05:35, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I absolutely agree that there is a lot of room for improvement/expansion in the plot summary to The Female Man. Could you integrate the text? I would too, I just don't want to mess with your language. --Jottce 07:19, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone got a plot summary?[edit]

The article, as it stands, ends with an ellipsis. Is this a typo, did we lose a piece, or is this intended to create a Dhalgren-esque ambiguity as to ending/beginning?

Minor point, for accuracy at the expense of sensationalism: Jael's "boy-toy" was less a "sex slave", than a brainless bio-cyborg extension of her house. I'm not sure whether that makes the scene less or more creepy, but it's more accurate.

Re-released ?[edit]

The article says "The book was re-released in 2000." What is this referring to ? A reprint ? A revised edition ? Where ? The speculative fiction database does not include a 2000 printing. -- Beardo 13:14, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a reprint from Beacon Press; look here. Cactus Wren (talk) 10:51, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Evason, not "Evasdaughter"[edit]

Since the "Evasdaughter" construction appears nowhere in the book, I'm removing from the article and substituting the correct "Evason" form. Cactus Wren (talk) 10:51, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
