Hemlock as the Ogre?[edit]

I doubt there is any encyclopedia-worthy content to this, but it occured to me that Hemlock's neighbor (Cherry) is a virgin and his gardener's name is Mr. Monk. This seems to allude to the two mountains (Jungfrau and Mönch — German for virgin and monk) adjacent to the Eiger (German for ogre). So is Hemlock, the "hero" of the story, the ogre? The mountain is certainly also portrayed as a killer without remorse. — Eoghanacht ^talk 16:41, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Climbing Scenes There is an article by well-known mountain photographer John Cleare on the filming of the Eiger mountain scenes. (It is in the Spring 2010 (no 57) edition of Summit). It describes some hairy incidents during the filming of the work, first with Dougal Haston as safety officer, and then after his replacement by Hamish MacInnes .
