Is history really necessary here since there's already a large page devoted to it?

I removed the history section. The history of the band is covered extensively in The Cult. Astronaut (talk) 17:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Official release date seems to be October 7th.

What is the policy about informing the Wikipedia public of upcoming releases?

Normally would add, but there's a lack of information online as it seems to have been taken down. Would advise waiting until more official, concrete information is available before adding. DPUH (talk) 10:04, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed! On Friday, the date for pre-release orders seemed to be July 7, with the official launch date still on October 7. But at least Spin Dizzy Records had already sold out their pre-release orders, one day before the countdown started. In the meantime, the countdown has been taken down (or at least it's not 'counting down') as you so well noticed. But their official Facebook & Twitter accounts are still spewing out teasers about the new album — without any dates, though. It's best to follow your advice :-)
