The film is based on an important issue and Emma Thompson's acting is superb. But there is one technical flaw towards the end. The blood is seen flowing down an empty IV tube (already inserted into the vein... For dramatic effect probably?) This would not be possible firstly because of the air inside the tube? Derail in plot summary[edit]

There is no need to have the plot summary derailed by a pedantic discussion of JW doctrine. The purpose of the plot summary is to explain the premise of the film, which is that it concerns the wish of parents to refuse treatment on religious grounds.
