Inaccuracies in the article[edit]

ALERT! : THE ARTICLE HEREIN REFERENCED, re "The Amityville Curse" IS REPLETE WITH FALSE INFORMATION.

EXAMPLES:

1)Tom Berry's link is to the wrong Tom Berry. Tom Berry was the director of the film, not a state governor born in 1879

2) The film is a Canada/USA co-production --50/50, not just Canadian. This is easily verifiable, all over the Web, and through the distributors

3) David Stein is in the opening credits as "starring David Stein", and is also so designated on DVD covers, etc., but Wikipedia insists on removing his name, under "Starring". They have done this numerous times.

Wikipedia "administrators" accuse those who try to correct this abominably researched article of "vandalism", and have "semi-protected" the page. What they are really protecting is their ignorant, unaccomplished, nasty undergraduate egos.

1) I agree, it should point to the page of Tom Berry|director, producer. I will make the change, if anyone disagree it will be reverted and will have to be settled here.

2) Give your sources, IMDB has it has a Canadian production.

3) "We" remove it because it just isn't very wikipedian to "add" your self. I honestly don't know the standard on these infobox is...just what is the right number of actors and actress that should appear on.

Possible innaccuracies[edit]

I believe only 2 points remain unsettled:

If the movie was a canadian or an american/canadian production. IMDB has it as a canadian production, but NYT has it as american/canadian. I emailed IMDB, in 2 weeks or so we will know if they make a correction or not.

If Mr. Stein should be included on the "starring" infobox. I just posted the DVD cover and only 2 names are there as stars, I will try to get the movie...

I believe the stars should be those listed on the DVD cover and no more. It is my belief that the NYT is more authorative than IMDB and thus I would go with that using an inline citation perhaps to substantiate the information and noting in the footnote that IMDB has a different view.--Golden Wattle ^talk 21:12, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't used the eofftv.com site before (Encyclopaedia of Fantastic Film and Television) but I thought this page ( http://www.eofftv.com/a/ami/amityville_curse_main.htm ) was well set out and well referenced giving it apparent authority. It states the film is Canadian. It also states the film was released in thatres int he US on 7 May 1990 - so I think we are wrong here at the moment. The image at Rotten Tomatoes shows the stars as Kim Coates and Cassandra Gava - different to the DVD cover uploaded. It gives the cast as Kim Coates, Cassandra Gava, Dawna Wightman, Helen Hughes, David Stein, Antony Dean Rubes. Its synopsis is: In the fifth installment of the "Amityville" series, six friends move into the infamous haunted home. Soon, their lives are turned upside-down when supernatural forces residing in the cellar wreak bloody havoc upon them.

Another site (The Video Graveyard) gives the movie stars as Kim Coates, Dawna Wightman, Helen Hughes, David Stein. - the date as 1989 rather than 1990 - I have seen that several times but I am pretty sure it was released in 1990 - and the country as Canada. The synopsis is: A group of friends buy a run-down old house in order to rennovate it and tragically find-out that it's possessed by (guess what?) evil spirits. About the starring issue, it makes sense to me too to list as "starring" only those credited on the DVD cover (even more, in the backcover of the DVD these same 2 are listed under "starring"). However I wonder if there is a clear wikipedia rule on the issue. Usually on a film lots of people are listed under differents labels ("starring", "introducing", etc.). Still I strongly believe that Stein should be on the crew list, even more it should have a link (though I'm not sure if a page) as all the other actor/actress have. On the country issue imdb still list it as a Canadian as does most of the movie sites, except for the NYT. I will rather wait 2 weeks and see what IMDB does about it.--Seba5618 01:37, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On David Stein in general, apart from his personality, does someone have something against him? I've noticed that his name has been removed from the cast list several times and while most of the other cast/crew had red links, David Stein had no link at all. His name should not be removed just because he is a vandal and, I think I can safely say, an undesirable person. His name appears on the cast list on iMDB, and that should be good enough for the cast section in this article. Davidovic 08:56, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some user decided to remove his link, so to make it fair I remove all red-inked from the page. Personally I prefer the article with all the cast linked ([2])--Seba5618 00:17, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can see no justification for removing the redlinks and will restore all of them. I regard the removal of the Stein redlink in this case as commenting on the editor rather than the content and thus inappropriate behaviour. Wrong book titles[edit]

It stated before that the film was based on Hans Holzer's book "The Amityville Murder". It is not and Hans holzer never wrote a book titled "The Amityville Murder". He wrote "Murder In Amityville" "The Amityville Curse" (Which is what this film is based on.) and "secrets of Amityville". The refrence to the house once being a rectory was from the book of the same name of the film. On a note: There is a book titled "High Hopes: The Amityville Murders" but it is not related to this film--VampireKen (talk) 23:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
