Race summary organization

I've been working on a way to better organize the race summary sections of the individual season articles. I think it would help the flow of the articles if the Detour/Roadblock/Additional task descriptions were included in the location lists at the appropriate places, rather than being listed at the end. Also, the articles would look better if all the clue icons were left-aligned, rather than being scattered all over the place, and we could incorporate the individual leg prizes into the summary rather than having a separate section for them. Here's an example of what I have in mind, using the third leg of season 10. Let me know what you guys think.

Before

• Ulaanbaatar (Chinggis Khaan International Airport) to Hanoi, Vietnam (Noi Bai International Airport)
• Hanoi (Hỏa Lò prison – "Hanoi Hilton")
• Hanoi (Old Quarter)
• Phố Vác (Dinh Vác Temple)
• Phố Vác (Canh Dong Dia)

In this leg's Roadblock, one team member had to sell flowers on Vietnamese bicycles - enough to make at least 80,000₫ (dong VND - approximately USD $5). Teams were allowed to keep the money they made. In the Detour, teams chose between Fuel and Fowl. In Fuel, teams had to form wet coal into round bricks, a traditional Vietnamese fuel source. In Fowl, teams had to construct an intricate traditional Vietnamese birdcage.

Additional task

• At the Hanoi Hilton, teams had to find John McCain's flying suit to receive their next clue.

After

Lead sentence in season articles

Current U.S. network of main series

The Amazing Race 14 is now on the Travel Channel in the U.S. I'm not sure if this is a move from CBS or in addition to CBS or what, and I don't know how many seasons have been on the Travel Channel, but could someone with definitive info put that in the "Production" section of the article? Because the info as it stands right now is either incorrect or incomplete. Thanks! Softlavender (talk) 08:36, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

I believe the Travel Channel airs encore presentations and reruns of Amazing Race episodes. I'd be hesitant to add this information to the Production section because it seems like it belongs somewhere else (like the U.S. series article). 192.91.171.36 (talk) 23:29, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

The maps in the bottom

Switchback

Should the Switchback be considered a revisited Roadblock rather than any revisited task? There aren't any sources I know of that state that it must be a Roadblock, so I moved the Switchback paragraph from the Roablock section into its own section. Hard to say right now as we've only ever had the one. The concept seems designed to be open-ended, though, so keeping it out of the Roadblock section makes sense. If we learn otherwise, it can always be moved back. Radagast (talk) 04:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

What does this mean...

The following appears in the "Teams" section:

Original Race rules required that teams have a relationship longer than three years, and would not have previous acquaintances with other racers during that cycle. However, these requirements have been dropped in some cases; Dustin and Kandice from Seasons 10 and 11, knew each other from the beauty pageant circuit, and from Seasons 9 and 11, Eric and Danielle, met on the Race, then started dating, when asked to be on the All-Star Season. [1]

Can someone explain this? The way the text is currently phrased, the examples given are not counterexamples to the "original Race rules"... it says Dustin and Kandice knew each other but they weren't on separate teams, it also says Eric and Danielle met on the Race but they were on the same team for the All-Star season. --96.32.133.130 (talk) 02:35, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Penalties changing which team gets eliminated

According to the article, it's only happened once. When/where did this happen? [If it's mentioned in another article, that should be linked, IMO.] Samer (talk) 13:40, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

The only time on the US was in TAR3, when Heather and Eve were penaltized, post-checkin, going to the mat. However, we don't need to identify it - we're keeping these as general as possible as we found when we include one or two examples of other cases, people want to fill in every example. --MASEM (t) 13:48, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

The Express Pass

I would like to make a suggestion that the "Express Pass" information should be relocated to after the "Route Information" "Detour" and "Roadblock" areas of the page considering that it only effects those three areas (and not the Fast Forward), it seems very random to place it in the Leg Structure. De-"US"ing the rules

I think we need to work a way to talk about all the rules and the like without citing specific seasons particular with the focus on the US version, unless we can provide a cite that says such-and-such was added in season X for some specific reason from the producers. (eg we can likely talk about the roadblock sharing rule as I think there are good sources for that) This doesn't mean we leave any of these out, just-- we don't need to go into details of when they were introduced. --MASEM (t) 05:17, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm assuming those are the manufacturer's of that slot machine? If so, they may be a WP:RS in mentioning they exist, + any basic details. The question that other editors need to weigh in on, is whether or not this is suitable for inclusion in this article. In particular, the section dealing with WP:ISNOT#Wikipedia_is_not_an_indiscriminate_collection_of_information. Seeing how there is a section on the Video Game, there may be a place for this, however this may be too trivial for inclusion. Leef5 (talk) 13:33, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

I think that this slot machine is more notable than, say, a board game or any other such merchandise because of the varied activities it offers, plus the fact that Phil recorded video footage of himself giving instructions. That actually sounds like a worthwhile idea. Rename the Video Game section header to Merchandising, and create the Video Game subsection and now the slot machine one. I'd say go ahead and be WP:BOLD and if other editors have issues with the importance of it, it may get reverted and discussion will ensue here on the talk page. TAR Central Europe

I think the Central European version of TAR should be removed from the map in the "Around the World" section. It's no more than a project and it's difficult to say that Central Europe had "its own version of TAR". --SimoneMLK (talk) 16:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello! In the section on the modes of transportation used in the program, trucks is wikilinked. That is a disambiguation page, which should not be linked to. None of the available dab targets at that page suits this use of the word. A Wiktionary link might be the best option, but I would prefer to leave it to the folks who work on this page. Double Legs and No-rest Legs

It has come to my attention that editors on this wiki cannot decide or differentiate between the two. There have been a few edit wars regarding them, especially in foreign editions. The way I see it, the foreign editions have never been entirely up-to-date on nomenclature or the specific rules. They're working off of a template.

That said, we DEFINITELY do not have any No-rest Legs before the airing of Season 18. As mentioned above, the foreign editions of the race work off a template of the American Race. As I understand it, that is how they offer the show to foreign markets...their rules must remain intact, for the most part. The only "new" feature I've noticed is the voting on Yields and U-Turns in Israel 2.

Some person on Asia 4 is adamant on his stance that their visit to Australia was two legs, with a no-rest leg halfway through. However, as I've said, this season aired before Season 18 even gave us the no-rest leg. Therefore, it can't be one.

For the most part, all seasons are switching from superlegs over to no-rest legs. Of that, there's not much doubt. But Asia 4 happened before the "switch".

Here's how I see it-
Double Legs: 6 7 8 9 10 14 Asia 1 Asia 2 Asia 4 China 2 and Australia 1 (Plus the finale legs of all Latin American races)
No-rest Legs: 18 19 Israel 2 and Latin America 3

Alan Wu likes to call the midpoints of Double Legs "Pit Stops". This means nothing. A Pit Stop doesn't expressly mean the leg is over. It's just a name for the spot with the mat.

How exactly would a double leg and a no-rest leg be differentiated? The only difference I can tell is that no-rest legs award prizes for the first place team at the pit stop, whereas double legs don't (some double legs don't even have "virtual pit stops").

Going by that definition, there would be 4 instances of no-rest legs: 1.) TAR 14 Leg 10 (Jaime & Cara were awarded jetskis at the mat for coming in first, though this was unaired) 2.) TAR 18 Leg 1 3.) TAR 18 Leg 4 4.) TAR 19 Leg 9

FF and SB vs FF rule new

(FF = Fast Forward, SB = Speed Bump, DT = Detour, RB = Roadblock, NEL = Non Elimination and PS = Pit Stop)

FF rule
Before: The team should (claimed) take FF at least (minimum) two times
After: The team may (claimed) take FF only one time

SB vs FF rule
If SB precede FF, the NEL team must take SB then FF (example: RB->SB->FF->DT, SB->RB->FF->DT, etc)
If FF precede SB, the NEL team must take SB and not take FF and the NEL team penalty 1 hour if taking FF without SB (example: DT->FF->SB->RB, FF->DT->SB->RB, etc)

Express Pass can used to 8th leg and expired only once. but Salvage Pass can used to ????? leg and expired only ??? times.

Can you give example "salvage pass"???
