BBC John Peel Session?[edit]

I used to have a cassette tape that somebody bootlegged for me in the late 70s containing the first tracks from volume 2, on which they were labelled 'BBC John Peel Session'. These tracks appear on the CD as;

  1. "Introduction" (Cooper) – 1:52
  2. "Ruins I" (Frith) – 6:35
  3. "Half Asleep, Half Awake" (Greaves) – 4:11
  4. "Ruins II" (Frith) – 0:59
  5. "Heron Shower over Hamburg" (Frith) – 2:29
  6. "Nix" – 0:06

Yet on the cassette the 6 tracks together were entitled 'Pigeons'. However the CD sleeve attributes the source of these tracks to an 'unmarked tape'. It would be good to verify if these tracks were indeed the Peel Session, although I would have thought Chris Cutler would have known this? 94.175.152.125 (talk) 19:42, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a list of all the Henry Cow John Peel Sessions, and the one I think you are referring to is this one, dated 25/04/1974. According to this site, "Pidgeons: (Introduction) / Ruins (I) / Half Asleep, Half Awake / (Ruins II) / Bittern Storn Over Ulm / (Nix)", was officially released on the box set, so I don't know why Chris didn't attribute it to a Peel Session.
