Employment history?[edit]

I thought he was working at TI around 1986 or so? That could have fit with his teaching at UT (Austin), since TI had a large plant in North Austin at that time. Shanen 07:21, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Still haven't found anything more on this, but I'm pretty sure that I met him when he gave a talk on LZW in Austin sponsored by the IEEE CS, which puts the time from from 1978 to his death in 1988. As I recall it, he said the work had been when he was at TI, but that could have been while he was teaching at UT? The article now says that he had already left Austin, so if I actually heard him speak, he must have been just passing through on a visit. (I also remember it as a good talk, but I probably discarded my notes a few weeks ago.) Shanen (talk) 02:20, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MIT's alumni online database reports that Terry is deceased, but only gives January 2000 as the date of the last update to his record. Have not been able to find further information. I went to grad school with him and remember his clear explanations of difficult topics. Mjmarcus (talk) 20:45, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date?[edit]

The article does not mention any date of birth on Welch. This may be him. If any Wikipedians could verify this as correct, then it could be added as Welch's birth date.

No, that would be WP:Original Research, something we do not do on Wikipedia. Basically, if there is no published material that has mentioned Welch's birth date, Wikipedia is not the place to do it. TJRC (talk) 17:14, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
