Concerns about map[edit]

I have several concerns about the map that was added to this article:

It is based on what appears to be original research by "Francisco Jesús Hernández Maciel durante 2004", based on his research into primary sources.
The map does not show the Basin of Mexico as it existed during that time -- it does not show Lake Texcoco for example -- but rather shows the outlines of the present Mexican states.

I would like to remove that map for these reasons, but thought I'd poll the community.
The map also does not work well because it is written in Spanish, it is in JPG format, and it has some rather garish colours. These are not fatal problems, unlike the two above. Thoughts? Madman (talk) 05:00, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Xolotl?[edit]

I don't know anything about this subject, but I thought this bit was weird: "Welcomed to the Valley of Mexico by Xolotl, the Tepanecs settled on the west shores of Lake Texcoco". This sentence sounds like it describes historical fact, but when I look up Xolotl it turns out to be a mythical figure. It's meant to refer to a different Xolotl, namely the 13thC Chichimeca ruler known also as Xolotl. Although some legendary stories surround this figure, he at least probably existed. We don't have an article on him yet, but have disambiguated the link to avoid confusion with the deity figure. --cjllw ʘ TALK 04:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
