Inaccurate measurements?[edit]

Under the heading "Description" it states "This species was a big rat of about 1 kg (2.2 lb) or more...Including the tail, the rat was over 1.14 m (3 ft 9 in)..." One or both of these measurements would seem to be inaccurate, as they defy the usual correspondences between the weight and length of rats. For example, the full length of the brown rat ranges between 25.5cm and 52cm, with a weight range between 140g and 1kg. If the maximum estimated length of the Tenerife giant rat is more than twice that of the brown rat, one would expect its maximum weight to be at least twice that (i.e., greater than 2kg). In fact, as animal size increases, weight does not increase proportionally, but exponentially, so one would expect its maximum weight to be considerably greater. Does anyone have a source for these dimensions? The cited source does not actually state them. Bricology (talk) 20:50, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
