Season vs Series?[edit]

Why are editors using the phrase 1st Series and 2nd Series instead of 1st Season and 2nd Season? Season refers to the specific grouping (typically aligned with a year or stretched across a non-calendar year). Series refers to the entire project. For example, Season finale vs Series finale. The former would be the last episode for the year, while the latter would refer to the last episode for the show, ever.
