Removed sentence[edit]

I removed the sentance crediting Ted Cassidy as Sasquatch in the Six Million Dollar man. Sasquatch was played by Andre Roussimoff (Andre the Giant). KoshVorlon ".. We are ALL Kosh..." 15:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Both Ted Cassidy and then Andre the Giant played Sasquatch. If it's not there, I'll put it back in. Hr785kf (talk) 01:58, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

caption[edit]

Could somebody turn the caption to regular lettering? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.225.184.29 (talk) 00:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

size?[edit]

It is claimed that his size caused his health problems but why? Paul Volcker is 85 at 6'7", height doesn't shorten life does it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.217.202.66 (talk) 15:06, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am Ted's son. I'm also 6'7" and have no problems. And neither did my father. His heart tumor was congenital. Hr785kf (talk) 02:01, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gigantism?[edit]

He might have had a pituitary tumour causing gigantism. This might explain the heart problem, though I have no proof of this. The large hands, jaw, nosw and beetling brow are characteristic of thie condition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.217.59.229 (talk) 23:29, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Acromegaly ?[edit]

On July 20,2016 I added a citation needed tag to the statement "Noted for his tall stature at 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m), (a result of acromegaly)". I have been unable to find a credible source that Mr. Cassidy had been diagnosed with this condition. There are a number of sites that express the "supposition" that based on his height and facial features that he had acromegaly. There are a number of conditions that would cause similar facial features and, many individuals with acromegaly are of normal height. Cbs527 (talk) 04:00, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's been over 10 weeks since a citation needed tag was added to the statement that Mr. Cassidy had acromegaly. As none has been provided I am removing this statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbs527 (talkcontribs) 18:45, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Given the above, I'm also removing the category.--NapoliRoma (talk) 02:08, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
He did not have acromegaly or giantism. Some source in Australia first put that out, and it is incorrect. I am Ted's son, and I know what I say to be true. Hr785kf (talk) 02:03, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Cassidy DID NOT appear in the Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man"[edit]

In the article it states: "Cassidy's unusual height gave him an advantage in auditioning for unusual character roles,[2] such as the alien in the Twilight Zone episode, 'To Serve Man'." This sentence seems to imply that Ted Cassidy played the role of the of the alien in the Twilight Zone episode. He did not play the alien, Richard "Jaws" Kiel played all the aliens in the episode. This is a common mistake that even Neil DeGrasse Tyson made on the Joe Rogan podcast recently.

Personal Life:[edit]

He married Margaret Helen Jesse in 1956, and the couple had two children. Sean Cassidy, who shares a striking resemblance to his father and a daughter Cameron Cassidy. Both are licensed attorneys. Tumor[edit]

It was stated the Mr. Cassidy had a tumor in his heart that caused Acromegaly. The tumor would have had to been found on his pituitary gland which is found in the brain, not the heart as this is what causes Acromegaly. 2600:6C5D:A7F:60F5:26:B876:443B:DD99 (talk) 16:02, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Acromegaly redux[edit]

Let's talk about this. It seems to be common knowledge that Cassidy had acromegaly. I say "common knowledge" because the "fact" is repeated all over the place. It also seems to be the case that he died with a heart tumor; these are associated with acromegaly. But none of this rises to the level of an acceptable source. Did Cassidy ever comment upon his physical characteristics from a medical point of view? Or did knowledgeable contemporary observers refer to his acromegaly? It's real hard to find anything definitive. We could say something like "Cassidy is believed to have had acromegaly". And it's odd that there's no mention of it at all in the article, given how oft-repeated the belief is, even if it's wrong. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 05:10, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

'freshman'[edit]

there should be a link to what that means. I presume at University it means a First Year student? 124.170.102.102 (talk) 06:55, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
