Updating Founders[edit]

Ridge McGhee should not be listed as a founder of TechShop. He is not a founder and is not involved with the company. <ref>http://techshop.ws/executive_bios.html<ref>.

Disclosure: I am a public relations representative for TechShop employed by North of Nine, a Burson-Marsteller company.r.

Planned Openings[edit]

I just removed a line about planned locations because it was from a 4 year old article and described the company's plans for the next 3 years (in other words, their plans for a period that ended about a year ago). If another editor thinks that planned locations are a reasonable thing to include (I do, but don't have time to do the research right now), they have already announced several locations on their website and there may be other announcements elsewhere. 2600:8802:6500:236:8127:2F88:7484:11A5 (talk) 02:55, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Struggling[edit]

Tech Shop San Jose is facing a 'serious budget gap' for the construction of their new shop. An email I got today (Oct. 8, 2016) said they need to raise $1M by Nov. 6th, or they may need to 'close their doors for good'. This was true a month ago (http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/09/03/techshop-san-jose-move-stalled-by-1-million-funding-gap/) The proposed Los Angeles location fell through after months of promotion... http://www.techshop.ws/ts_los_angeles.html Many instructors say the pay is poor, paychecks arrive late (3 months in some cases...) more here https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/TechShop-Reviews-E515949.htm

Update[edit]

The assets have been bought out by a new company Techshop 2.0 (techshop2.com) which is figuring out which facilities to keep open etc. More info. It would be great if someone who follows this stuff could update the article. 173.228.123.121 (talk) 08:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The buyout was talked about, but apparently the deal collapsed.[1]. Facebook comments report lawsuits from creditors and a seizure of the Texas location by tax authorities.[2] Need better sources for this. Suggest holding off on changing the article until the reliable sources catch up. John Nagle (talk) 22:02, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Buyout not going well. Lawsuits and evictions underway.[3]. Changed text in article to reflect that previous buyout discussion was an announcement, not a done deal, per WP:CRYSTAL. John Nagle (talk) 23:34, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As of 10 March 2018, notices from the bankruptcy court have been delivered to creditors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.134.139.73 (talk) 17:27, 12 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
