Controversy[edit]

An official citation would be much-appreciated in the paragraph about the controversial video. I can't seem to find an interview or other statement to back up... anything. FekketCantenel 19:39, 3 June 2007 (UTC) I remember at the time seeing a TV show where they explained the video was created NOT with computer graphics, but a puppet in a tank, with a liquid filter over the camera lens. Abortion[edit]

Excised the following as it is speculation not fit for an encyclopedia.

The teeney baby could be aborted in the video, since there are several hints to that in the lyrics and the video. First a substance is seen flowing through the imbilical cord into the baby. Then the music slows down, and the baby closes its eyes. Moments later, there is a flash of light and the baby shakes uncontrollably as the imbilical cord is seen tugging off (almost tearing) of the wall of the womb. A hand is seen above the stomach. The lyrics sing "You're stumbling a little." twice, and then the baby closes it's eyes, and the beeping sound stops. It is not sure if abortion is being pictured in the video, but it is a speculation made by several fans.

To the unregistered editor who posted it, please find proper citations for the abortion claim. "Several fans" is not a source. I appreciate your effort, and I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your interpretation, but Wikipedia articles should source extraordinary claims. See WP:OR (the paragraph reads like original research) and WP:V (it lacks a source for its main claim). You're welcome to discuss your viewpoints with me, but unless you find an article/interview/similar that supports the abortion idea, it should be left out of the article. Wtf. So, if there is a clearly defined movie of a lemon (as observed by the fans) and the official statement from the artist of the movie is that it is depicting an apple, then it is an apple, and no lemon should be mentioned? I find your comment ignorant. /Farbror Grön.

It's a pejorative, speculative interpretation anyway, not even based on the subject matter, rather it's wishful thinking. The baby's eyes do NOT close at the end. Given the context the action is more likely to depict immanent birth, which is how it's broadly interpreted. The lyrics however are concerned with mourning, so if the video is about death, it's more likely to be the mother than the child. OzoneO (talk) 09:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Media Usage[edit]

I know for a fact that Teardrop was once featured on America's Got Talent on NBC as background music during the deliberations of the judges. Casio CTK-691 "064 Trip-Hop" rhythm[edit]

I was looking through the rhythms on my keyboard - Casio CTK-691 - and noticed that the Intro 1 (and the other Variations) for its rhythm "Trip-Hop" (#064), is identical to Teardrop, played at 78 BPM. I have a sample of Intro 1, played at 80 BPM linked: [1] (to get the same notes, I set it to play across E minor, although it plays Bs instead of As, presumably to avoid copyright.)
Don't know whether or not it should be mentioned, but it's an interesting thought.

Media Usage, Again[edit]

Second paragraph, it notes the music was used as the theme for House, an Assassin's Creed commercial and a CSI:Miami episode. While these facts are not disputed the song has been used in a number of movies and TV shows to date and I find the inclusion of only the aforementioned items somewhat biased. I agree with citing 'House', since as the theme song this is notable, however mentioning it in one commercial and one particular episode of CSI is inappropriate without giving a more complete list of items of inclusion. I propose to remove mention of it in Assassin's Creed and CSI and simply put something along the lines of 'numerous tv programs and movies' instead of just those two particular items.

I would have trouble compiling a full list of it's usage, but I am familiar with the song and I am quite certain it has been used in at least four or five other shows and movies.
