School Newspaper[edit]

The town's newspaper is "The Taunton Daily Gazzette." The newspaper that is published within the school is called the "Tauntonian." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikejc101185 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Renovation[edit]

Because the renovation is complete we should update the "campus" information. Anything important in the campus information should be moved to the history section.

Eighth Grade[edit]

Could somebody write a section regarding the integration of the eigth grade into THS in 2010-2011 school year? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cgc25 (talkcontribs) 22:44, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:THS Taunton tiger.gif[edit]

Image:THS Taunton tiger.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Recently I've tried to clean this article up to bring it in line with the guidelines linked in the section title, only to have all my work reverted by an editor whose editing history includes only this school and a couple other local physical features. There is nothing wrong with editing on things in your neighborhood, but you need to understand what this article is for. It is not the school's article, but Wikipedia's article on the school. Hence, I will again be removing the section on academic departments and the club list (that because it is just way too long. If someone wants to write some referenced prose summarizing it, that would be fine). I will also be cleaning up the infobox to meet guidelines. Please keep in mind that the editing model here in Wikipedia dictates that when copy is removed, replacement needs to be justified, not the other way around. If you think this is all somehow unfair, you may wish to contemplate this: even with all the bulky, well intentioned but not particularly helpful additions this article has gotten over the years, it is still rated "start", the second lowest rating possible. The WikiProject Schools are guidelines, not dictates. I have looked over the section on curriculum and extracurricular activities and seem like an ideal for the content under these section. However until someone writes those, something is better than nothing. I updated and referenced both of the list and I plan to add them back if nothing is put back in their place. Sorry, Mike , but that is not how it works. You can add anything you want to a Wikipedia article (within reason obviously. Nothing libelous or copyrighted), but once someone challenges it by removing it, you must have consensus to add it back. At this point there are only two people interested, me and you. I do not want the content I removed. Therefore you do not have a consensus. Going forward, there are a few paths that you can take. You can edit war the stuff you want back in, which will lead to your editing privileges being suspended; you can engage in discussion with me to try to find a compromise; you can request a third opinion, or you can withdraw and let the article stand as it is. At this point, you have nothing on which to support your position except WP:ILIKEIT. I watch approximately 2000 different high school articles; there is not a single one that has a listing of academic departments. So on what basis do you think this one should? Admittedly, there are some articles that have complete listings of all the clubs and activities available. The reason for that is that content makes good filler in an article (of which there are many) where there is just nothing to say about the school. And you certainly cannot be saying that the infobox is somehow better with the stuttering state. I don't think Taunton is in Massachusetts Massachusetts. Please recognize that this article is written to inform the entire English speaking world; it is not written for the students or alumni of this school. First let me say, I really appreciate you taking the time to school me on Wikipedia. I am a big fan of Wikipedia and I try to explain it to people who scoff at it. I would like to contribute more and I try to learn, but never find the time. Necessity is not only the mother of invention, but also learning. So I will soak up what I can. I'm willing to come a compromise on both the academic subjects and activities. I think it is important to note that THS includes many nontraditional departments that are typically reserved for vocational schools. Would you be willing to allow a list of departments that are not typical of a traditional school beneath some explanation? For the activities, it is very impressive the amount activities THS offers. They are equally as important as the sports and deserve the same space. I have no beef with changing the infobox Mikejc101185 (talk) 22:09, 22 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikejc101185 (talkcontribs)

1849 would be the correct year, right.[edit]

I added the 1849 establishments in Massachusetts category onto the page, since the school as an entity was established in 1849. I just wanted to make sure that this was the right decision. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:196:8901:4560:5C62:6D76:7E2B:4887 (talk) 18:53, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
