Merger[edit]

Does there really need to be separate articles for Task force and Taskforce? olderwiser 13:58, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Errors[edit]

It looks like there is an awful lot wrong with this article. For example, an Admiral of the Fleet rarely, if ever, sailed in a line of battle - in the Royal Navy it was a singular rank given to the admiral with the most seniority, and as such, he was usually a little old to be out in battle. Also, the red, white and blue flags was a British thing, and it indicated subdivisions within the ranks - for example, a vice-admiral of the white outranked a vice admiral of the blue. A rear admiral flew his flag from the mizzen, a vice admiral from the foremast, and a full admiral flew his from the main mast.

I have never completely wiped a section of wikipedia before, but this needs a lot of fixing.

My sources for this post are The Oxford Companion to Ships and the Sea, and A Sea of Words. AlexFeldman (talk) 11:19, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Error[edit]

in the entry for the US navys Task Force 1 the term "U.S. Atlantic Fleet" links to and article on the United States Fleet Forces Command due to a redirect. Is this intended or should it link to one of these? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fleets#United_States_fleets 98.179.184.17 (talk) 13:45, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
