This article sounds bunk. Unfortunately, precisely because this article is at least ten years old, it'll be a tough argument to argue otherwise for this video system. 47.157.91.212 (talk) 23:48, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Performance[edit]

The claim that the 286 CPU runs better than a faster 386 is really, "optimistic" is a nice way of putting it. 386 systems themselves used a local bus for RAM, rather than the 8MHz ISA bus. Despite what one of the engineers says, who might be a touch biased.

Not that I have any better info, but if anyone has a real VIS and can run a benchmark on it, it would be helpful. As an opinion, it seems silly to sell a unit with such an expensive add-on (CD-ROM drives were VERY expensive!), and yet cut corners on the CPU, especially since multimedia apps would really benefit from CPU power.

Emulation[edit]

Since MAME 0.180 it's possible to emulate this machine, once you got the firmware files, and ISO copies of VIS software, already dumped on some websites. Initial Tandy VIS emulation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.193.44.155 (talk) 14:11, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
