Only Crossing ?[edit]

Doesn't the West Tamar Road divide the South Esk River and the Tamar ? There is also a partial crossing, from the west bank to Tamar Island. --Biatch (talk) 03:03, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the "only crossing" it is referred to as the only bridge crossing from East to West across the Tamar, the west Tamar road i believe crosses the South Esk, even if it's only by a few meters they're calling it the South Esk, Tamar Island only is not accessible from the east so that is not classified as an East/West crossing. Renaming under DPIPWE Dual Naming Policy[edit]

Tamar River was renamed kanamaluka on 19 Dec 2013 by the Tasmanian Nomenclature Board Confirmation Notice No 111.

Under Dual Naming policy the accepted name for the river is kanamaluka / River Tamar. Palawa Kani placenames are conventionally spelt without a capital but Wikipedia defaults to a capital in the title.

The Gazetting of the river as kanamaluka with the dual naming of kanamaluka / Tamar River can be viewed at Nomenclature Board of Tasmania.Sean Parker (talk) 11:27, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the move. We use common names, not official names, here on Wikipedia. And "Tamar" is still the common name: e.g. [1] See also Mount Wellington (Tasmania). StAnselm (talk) 09:29, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
