Some questions[edit]

In addition to being an orogeny, there is also a taconic terrane or crustal block that was added to north america and i assume that this was a piece of crust formed about 500 my ago? We focus a lot on the orogeny in this article but the fact is also a large section of new crust was added to north america, the taconic terrane. Perhaps this article should include information on the nature of the rocks of the taconic terrane, and its extant or a new article created for the terrane. It would be great if we could find a map of the terrane to add. Also, the taconic i seem to be reading seems to strtch much further away from new york, perhaps into the carolinas or georgia? What is the range of the taconic terrane? Since this is a subduction island arc, its going to be long i assume.

New York Bight?[edit]

I think it is odd and a bit misleading to mention the New York Bight region in this article's first sentence.
