Merge[edit]

It has been suggested that Channel 9 (Malaysia) be merged into this article.

  • Oppose. The reason why I oppose the merger is because they are essentially not the same TV channel, their identities are distinct from each other. Besides, we already have a whole category of defunct TV channels. We do not need to merge this article. --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 17:45, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • In between SUPPORT and STRONG SUPPORT. If you firmly stated that they are really not the same television channel, then why they are of the same UHF bandwidth as before? Besides, both of these two Wiki-articles are still incomprehensive, unless they are of Wikipedian standard in terms of length - long enough to be a good elaborative Wiki-article, otherwise they would be better to combine into one! That is to say that they are almost like stubs. Moreover, are not those two television stations still own by the same old broadcasting company (that is, the Ch-9 Media Sendirian Berhad)? Or have they separated/splitted on their own independently? If they are not to be merge together, then why in TV9's history section does mention about Channel 9? --onWheeZierPLot 23:24, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: TV9 existed as Channel 9 and was brought by Media Prima Berhad and renamed as TV9. Media Prima Berhad also owns 8TV, ntv7 and TV3. Channel 9 and TV9 is actually the same channel. Officially you can call it "new channel" (closed down for restructuring and "start all over again"). Unofficially, it's an "old channel". Now, can we also relate 8TV as MetroVision? This is because 8TV existed as MetroVision before it was bought by Media Prima. You don't believe me, you can type MetroVision in the search field, Wikipedia redirect you to 8TV.

As long time watchers of this page might have noticed, the logo on the infobox has gone through several revisions. As far as I know, 2 people are taking this matter seriously – Nasir36 and I.

I am of the opinion that SVG logos should be used in favour of raster or bitmap. Any modifications done to emboss it, add borders or add/change the slogan are decorative and does not make it a new logo.

Nasir36's opinion is that the logo should be sourced and updated from the TV9 official website heading. The flat SVG version is "not up to date" and if the slogan comes with the logo, there is no need to modify it.

Admittedly I'm the more vocal one, and it did get personal, but I want to settle this by asking the community's view. What do you think? Thanks for your attention. Hytar (talk) 02:24, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
